FOR TEENS COMPLETING GRADES 8 & 9
Developing future camp and community leaders!
Here’s how it works:
The program runs in two-week sessions, but each session offers a variety of different experiences. The first week of every session, the teens are placed in cabin groups with specialized counsellors. Together, they enjoy age-appropriate camp activities (cooking, ropes course/rock climbing, biking, tennis, landsports, recreational swim, etc.), plan and execute a community service initiative (food drive, candy-grams, school supply drive, etc) and participate in interactive leadership workshops throughout the week. In the second week of the session, LTPs get to choose a week-long placement around camp, assisting Counsellors or Instructors in either Traditional Camp, All-Star Sports Camp or Cedar Creek. They receive regular feedback which they use to develop their leadership skills and apply to their next placement.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM!
This multifaceted program prepares teens for leadership roles both at camp and in their future. This program provides a great balance of group bonding time, camp placements, training workshops, leadership opportunities, community service initiatives and camp activities. Every year, LTPs have raved about the program and many have wanted to extend their stay. They talk about the friendships and memories they made in the program and how prepared they felt to make the transition to camp staff.
I loved gaining experience on a variety of topics (leadership skills, communication skills) as well as being able to spend time with old friends and make new ones!
Each year we partner with several charitable organizations to give the LTPs the opportunity to earn up to 18 volunteer hours throughout the summer, which count towards their high school community service requirements. Our program is offered for 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Many of our LTPs have gone on to become successful counsellors, instructors and head staff! The best part of the program are the close friendships made throughout the summer and the long-lasting memories!
I loved the fact that everyone was so open and welcoming and even though I’d been there for 12 years… I could still make so many new friends that I could have for a long time.
